This Is Not About Rice Paperback

“This Is Not About Rice” is a provocative exploration of identity, desire, conditioning, and the quiet forces that shape who we become. Moving between personal reflection and wider observations about Nigerian politics , economics, society, relationships, desire, culture, ambition, lust, and selfhood, Alexandra Alle examines the things we inherit, the things we are taught to want, and the things we eventually have to question for ourselves. Part memoir and part social commentary, the book asks uncomfortable questions without always offering comfortable answers.

It is about becoming aware of yourself, and what happens when you can no longer unsee what you have discovered. And, despite the title, it is not really about rice.
